Meeting the Code
The Code is a voluntary standard designed to improve the overall sustainability of new homes by setting a single framework within which the home building industry can design and construct homes to higher environmental standards and offers a tool for developers to differentiate themselves within the market. Where it is used the Code also gives new home buyers better information about the environmental impact of their new home and its potential running costs.
The Code complements the system of Energy Performance Certificates for new homes, which was introduced in April 2008 under the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).
